Flip du Plessis
Managing Director, Executive Head of Business
Flip is a Professional Civil Engineer registered with ECSA, with over 20 years of experience in the water sector. He specialises in hydraulic modelling of water and sewer systems, long-term infrastructure planning, and strategies for water conservation and demand management. His expertise also includes master planning studies such as development charges, pipe replacement prioritisation, fire flow analysis, and water quality modelling. Flip has worked with municipalities across South Africa, including the City of Cape Town and all 24 local municipalities in the Western Cape. As GLS’s team lead for the Western and Northern Cape, he provides strategic technical support and has built strong relationships with water services departments. Under his visionary leadership, GLS has maintained its position as South Africa’s market leader in hydraulic network modelling, while successfully expanding into electrical and stormwater planning. Flip also drives GLS’s international growth, forging partnerships in smart water modelling. He is passionate about delivering innovative, future-ready infrastructure solutions.
Tsolane Mokoena
Director, Executive Head of Energy
Tsolane is a Professional Electrical Engineer registered with ECSA, with over 15 years of experience in power system planning across Southern Africa. His expertise spans distribution and transmission infrastructure, energy and demand forecasting, renewable energy (RE) grid impact and feasibility studies, power system analysis, revenue enhancement, and cost of supply studies. He has worked with utilities in South Africa, Botswana, eSwatini, Mozambique, Namibia, and through the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP). A member of the SAIEE Load Research Chapter, Tsolane has co-authored several papers for AMEU Conventions, including a study on the BOSA interconnector on the SAPP network presented at the 9th CIGRE Conference. Under his leadership, GLS Energy has grown into a key division, expanding the company’s capabilities in sustainable energy planning.
Kgothatso Tshikane
Director, Executive Head of Marketing
Kgothatso is a Candidate Civil Engineer registered with ECSA, with over five years of experience in hydraulic modelling, stormwater design, infrastructure planning, and stormwater management solutions. She has led capacity investigations for new developments and facilitated workshops with municipalities on major infrastructure projects. As GLS’s Lead for Stormwater in South Africa, Kgothatso brings energy and a forward-thinking approach to expanding the Stormwater Master Planning service offering. She is committed to positioning GLS as a key player in this competitive sector. In her role as Head of Marketing, she integrates innovative strategies to elevate GLS’s visibility and impact. Her vision is to establish GLS on the global stage as specialists in water, sewer, stormwater, and energy master planning.
